Enter your measurements to estimate your body fat percentage.
Estimated with the U.S. Navy circumference method (accurate to roughly ±3% for most people). Measure at the same time of day for consistent tracking.
Body Fat Categories (ACE)
Categories from the American Council on Exercise. M = men, W = women.
How does the Navy method work?
The U.S. Navy method estimates body fat from the circumference of your neck and waist (plus hips for women) relative to your height. It was developed for military fitness assessments and is one of the most accurate no-equipment methods available.
How to measure
- Neck: just below the larynx, tape sloping slightly downward at the front.
- Waist: at the navel for men, at the narrowest point for women — relaxed, not sucked in.
- Hips (women): at the widest point.
Body fat percentage tells you more than BMI alone, because it distinguishes fat from muscle — see why BMI can mislead for muscular or older people.
